Tetsuya Matsumoto Shows The Pekin Kaku Chinese Restaurant

Tetsuya Matsumoto, the thinktank behind the awarded design Pekin Kaku by Tetsuya Matsumoto points out, Pekin-kaku restaurant new renovation offers a stylistic reinterpretation of what a Beijing style restaurant could be, rejecting the traditional abundantly ornamental design in favor of a more simplistic architectonics. The ceiling features a Red-Aurora created using 80 meters long string Curtains, whilst the walls are treated in traditional dark Shanghai bricks. Cultural elements from the millenary Chinese heritage including Terracotta warriors, the Red hare, and Chinese ceramics was highlighted in a minimalistic display providing a contrasting approach to the decorative elements..
